'Waiting for Godot' performed by prisoners at HMP Wayland

in:fusion - Every Child Matters

Theatre workshops promoting dialogue between young people and YOTs

Through funding from Connexions/Young Lives
we are currently addressing the participation and involvement strategy in the Every Child Matters agenda. The aim of the project is to promote dialogue amongst young people and YOS staff and to empower young people to honestly feedback on the Youth Offending Service in Fenland.

Participants will be selected from various orders, different cultural backgrounds and at different stages of their orders to maximise varying view points.

Alongside YOS staff, young people will participe in theatre games focusing on creating trust and working as a team. Other components will include role-reversal exercises in which young people play magistrates and YOS workers play young offenders.

These and other lively elements will be combined to infuse the sessions with humour, creative energy and insight.

The in:fusion workshops will be led by: Megan Bunting - who delivered the original pilot project at Havering YOS and who has previously worked in both theatre and within the Department of Justice in Canada.
